Accreditation Program for Home Care Aide Services
This nationally recognized accreditation program for home care aide services is designed especially for the non-Medicare certified agency that provides homemaker, personal assistance, and supportive care services to clients in their place of residence. Twelve basic standards address all aspects of the organization and include: governance, structure, community relations, fiscal management, human resource management, quality assessment, training, supervision, client rights, safety, and business ethics. These standards, described in detail in the Self-Study instrument can serve as a model for service delivery.
The program requires the organization to conduct a rigorous self -study process followed by a site visit by peer reviewers. A report of findings is reviewed by the Accreditation Commission, which determines accreditation status. The accreditation term is three years. At the end of the three-year cycle, the agency completes a new self-study process for re-accreditation.
Any agency that has employed home care aides for at least one full year is eligible to apply. Fees are scaled based on annual salaries for home care aides. For more information call Accreditation Program, 202-547-3576, or fax 202-547-4322 or e-mail mb@nahc.org.
