Washington, DCCalling home care “the preferred form of health care for millions of Americans,” Val J. Halamandaris, president of the National Association for Home Care & Hospice (NAHC), invites all home care and hospice professionals to attend its 26 th Annual Meeting. The meeting will be held at the Colorado Convention Center in Denver, Colorado, from October 6-10, 2007.

Every professional in the home care and hospice field, from the CEO to the field nurse, from the IT director to the director of finance, will benefit from receiving the latest state-of-the-art educational instruction. NAHC’s Annual Meeting offers the most comprehensive, highest quality programs for home care and hospice professionals to be found.

Several high-profile speakers will address the attendees including Gen. Wesley K. Clark ( U.S. Army, ret.), 2004 presidential candidate; Sen. Susan M. Collins (R-ME), Rep. Jim McGovern (D-MA); Howard Behar, former president of Starbucks; Dr. Ben Leichtling, president of Leichtling and Associates, a management consultant firm; Stuart R. Levine, former CEO of Dale Carnegie & Associates, Inc.; Dr. Ken Dychtwald, gerontologist and best-selling author; Dr. Chip Bell, author, organizational consultant and Marcus Buckingham, author, management researcher and consultant.

“Most Americans prefer to remain in their own homes, especially by the time they become a little frail and need assistance to perform such activities as getting out of bed, dressing, making meals, feeding themselves and making sure they take their medications,” Halamandaris said.

More than 500 exhibitors will be on hand to give booth presentations and provide hands-on demonstrations. A technology showcase will highlight the latest high-tech offerings for home care providers.

Additionally, the Caring Institute, a non-profit organization whose mission is to promote the values of caring, integrity, and public service, will hold a silent auction that is open to the public. Sports, celebrity and political memorabilia, trips, outings, jewelry, one-of-a-kind items and services will be up for bid in the convention center’s exposition hall.

Media are encouraged to attend and may register by contacting Maureen Ryan at (202) 547-7424 or mar@nahc.org.

The National Association for Home Care & Hospice, the industry’s largest, oldest and most respected trade group, represents the interests of nearly 25,000 home care agencies and hospice organizations (including approximately 11,500 Medicare-certified home health and hospice agencies) that serve nearly nine million Americans annually as well as home care aide organizations, nurses and other caregivers and their clients.  NAHC members believe that quality home care and hospice, a humane and cost-effective alternative to institutionalization, is the right of all Americans.  Home care and hospice reinforce and supplement the care provided by family members and friends and encourage maximum independence of thought and functioning as well as the preservation of human dignity.  Visit NAHC’s Web site at www.nahc.org.
