Office of the [official's title]
[city name]
Proclamation
Whereas, more than 324,928 home care aides offer the nation's elderly, disabled,
chronically ill and terminally ill individuals vital assistance with the activities
of daily living, enabling them to retain a sense of dignity and independence
by remaining in the comfort and security of their own homes; and
Whereas, paraprofessional care is an integral and inseparable component of the
American home care system, a system that increasingly serves as an alternative
to the sterile environment of hospital and nursing home care for acute, chronic
and terminal illnesses; and
Whereas, home care aides have strengthened and enriched our society's quality
of life by reinforcing the tradition of informal care provided in the home and
by helping families remain together in times of illness, disability, and need;
and
Whereas, these tirelessly dedicated home care aides form a network of caring
support in our nation's vast health care system and are deserving of special
honor and appreciation for their many contributions; and
Whereas, [Agency name], the Home Care Aide Association of America, the National
Association for Home Care, and the thousands of home care organizations that
employ home care aides across the United States have declared the week of November
10–16 as National Home Care Aide Week and are calling upon all Americans
to observe this occasion with appropriate ceremonies and activities;
Now, therefore, be it resolved that I, [Official's name], [Official's title],
do hereby proclaim November 10, 2002, through November 16, 2002, as
NATIONAL HOME CARE AIDE WEEK
in the city of [City] and encourage the support and participation of all citizens
in learning more about the paraprofessional home care concept of care for the
elderly, disabled, and infirm.
In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and caused this seal to be
affixed.
