NAHC Representatives Meet with Chairman of the House Energy and Commerce Health Subcommittee
July 18, 2013 03:01 PM
Representatives from the National Association of Home Care & Hospice (NAHC) - including NAHC President Val J. Halamandaris, William A. Dombi, Esq., NAHC’s Vice President for Law, Jeff Kincheloe, NAHC’s Vice President for Government Affairs, and Richard D. Brennan, Jr., MA, NAHC’s Vice President of Technology Policy and Government Affairs - met earlier this week with Congressman Joe Pitts (R-PA), the Chairman of the powerful House Energy and Commerce Committee’ Subcommittee on Health. Rep. Pitt’s subcommittee has jurisdiction over Medicare and Medicaid, as well as many other health-related topics that are of concern to NAHC members.
The meeting was held off of the Capitol grounds, giving the meeting a more casual atmosphere, yet one where NAHC representatives had the full attention of Congressman Pitts and could argue the organization’s position directly to the Chairman on the new rebasing regulations. They outlined the serious deficiencies in the CMS proposed rule on home health payment rebasing.
Shortly after the meeting, NAHC President Val J. Halamandaris made a video that further makes the case against the new rebasing rule. To view the video, please click here.
NAHC will be conducting a follow-up meeting to brief Mr. Pitts’ staff on the proposed rebasing rule and seek Congressional oversight in the near future.
