NAHC Hosts Free December 13 Teleconference on the Budget Deal, Home Health Care Payment Rebasing Amendment and the SGR “Doc Fix”
December 13, 2013 09:00 AM
What: A free teleconference. The National Association for Home Care & Hospice (NAHC) will host a free teleconference to highlight issues of critical importance for the home care and hospice community.
When: The conference will take place Friday, December 13, 2013, from 12:00 p.m. EST to 1:00 p.m. EST. The number to call in US/CAN Toll free is 1-888-632-3384 and the code is 921233.
Why: The Congressional House and Senate are close to a budget deal for 2014 and 2015 which avoids a government shutdown through September 2015. The bill which is likely to pass contains: a) No new Medicare or Medicaid cuts; b) No new taxes; c) NAHC’S FITT bill setting up Home Health Telehealth Prototypes (which if successful could more broadly be implemented) approved by the Senate Finance Committee clearing the way for enactment early next year; d) Major progress toward rebasing reform (action was not complete as this memo was being written); e) Progress toward enactment of NAHC’s bill allowing nurse practitioners and physician assistants to write Medicare home health orders; and, f) Senate Finance approval of provision allowing physician assistants to provide and manage hospice care for Medicare beneficiaries.
Who is conducting the seminar: Val J. Halamandaris, President of NAHC; Jeff Kincheloe, Vice President for Government Affairs; Bill Dombi, Vice President for Law; Richard Brennan, Vice President for Technology Policy and Government Affairs; and, Theresa Forster, Vice President for Hospice Policy and Programs.
Who may participate: NAHC members will receive priority, but the conference is open to all. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org to reserve your place on the call. The first 500 people will be guaranteed a place.
Will questions be allowed: Yes. Questions from participants will be received 24-hours in advance or submitted while the teleconference is live on the date of the broadcast. Send questions to Barbara Woolley, at email@example.com.
Will the teleconference be recorded: Yes, there will be a recording of the teleconference. Highlights of the event will also appear in NAHC Report, NAHC’s daily electronic newsletter, and in CARING, its monthly magazine.
