Cardiovascular Health Tips and Resources for American Heart Month
January 28, 2014 10:12 AM
Heart disease and stroke are the first and fourth leading causes of death in the United States, respectively. Heart disease is responsible for one in every four deaths in the country. In recognition of February as American Heart Month, the Home Health Quality Improvement (HHQI) National Campaign encourages home health providers to educate their patients, loved ones, and themselves about preventive steps that can be taken to decrease cardiovascular risk.
The ABCS are the pillars of preventive cardiovascular care. By developing resources, tools and partnerships that focus on improvements in these four areas, the national Million Hearts® initiative aims to prevent 1 million heart attacks and strokes in the United States by 2017.
In support of Million Hearts® and American Heart Month, HHQI will be sharing daily tips for improving cardiovascular health on its Facebook page throughout the month of February. Like HHQI on Facebook now to get all 28 tips.
HHQI has also developed new Best Practice Intervention Packages and customized data reports designed to help home health agencies improve preventive cardiovascular care. As with all of HHQI’s resources, these materials are free of charge.
