The Texas Medical Foundation (TMF) Health Quality Institute, the Quality Improvement Organization (QIO) in the state of Texas and developer of the Program for Evaluating Payment Patterns Electronic Report (PEPPER), recently issued notice regarding hospices’ access of the most recently-issued PEPPER report.
The current release - version Q4FY13 - of the PEPPER for hospices has been available for download through the Secure PEPPER Access page since April 21, 2014. As of June 30, only 38 percent of the 3,030 hospice PEPPERs have been accessed.
TMF encourages hospices that have not yet obtained their PEPPER to access the report, which can be done by having the Chief Executive Officer, President or Administrator:
The previous release of the PEPPER - version Q4FY12, released in 2013 - will be made available via the Secure PEPPER Portal in early August. Another email notification will be sent when those PEPPERs are available.
PEPPER is an educational tool that summarizes provider-specific data statistics for Medicare services that may be at risk for improper payments. Providers can use the data to support internal auditing and monitoring activities.
Visit the PEPPER Resources website to access resources for using PEPPER, including user's guides, recorded web-based training sessions and sample PEPPERs. PEPPER is distributed by TMF® Health Quality Institute under contract with the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services.
Do you have questions or comments about PEPPER or need help obtaining your report? Visit the PEPPER Help Desk to request assistance with PEPPER. Provide your feedback or suggestions regarding PEPPER through TMF’s PEPPER feedback form.
