An Update on H.R. 4625 Rebasing Legislation
NAHC encourages its members to contact their elected officials and ask them to support H.R. 4625
July 18, 2014 01:52 PM
Earlier this year, Congressman Ralph Hall (R-TX) introduced the Medicare Home Health Rebasing Relief and Reassessment Act (H.R.4625). The bill would suspend the rebasing rule for 12 months and require that CMS reassess the rule and submit a report to Congress on alternative rebasing methods, including methods offered by stakeholders. NAHC and the Texas Association for Home Care & Hospice were involved in drafting the legislation and getting it introduced.
NAHC encourages all of its members to take a moment to contact their Representatives in the House and ask that they cosponsor this legislation.
NAHC is also working to get a Senate companion bill introduced.
The following Members of Congress have signed on the bipartisan Medicare Home Health Rebasing Relief and Reassessment Act (H.R. 4625) since its introduction:
Ralph Hall (R-TX)
Dave Loebsack (D-IA)
Bruce Braley (D-IA)
Markwayne Mullin (R-OK)
Randy Neugebauer (R-TX)
Steve Pearce (R-NM)
Mac Thornberry (R-TX)
A link to the bill can be found here. The link provides the full text of the bill, a summary of the legislation, what action has been taken on the bill, and also all representatives who have signed-on as a cosponsor.
Rep. Hall also sent around a Dear Colleague letter upon the bill’s introduction inviting other Members of the House to cosponsor the bill.
If health staffers say they have not seen the Dear Colleague, offer to forward it to them. You may suggest they contact Kyle Oliver in Hall’s office to obtain more information and sign on.
For contact information, please Contact Your Elected Officials. If calling your representative’s office, ask the receptionist to connect you with the staffer who handles health care issues. To send an email message requesting that they cosponsor the bill, you may use the NAHC Legislative Action Network.
In addition to being able to contact your lawmakers, NAHC’s Legislative Action Network also has talking points and background information on the subject of rebasing, as well as a sample message you may personalize by adding your background, where you live in the district, and what impact the rebasing rule will have on home health care in the district.
Congress leaves for the summer recess on August 1. NAHC encourages all its members to take action so H.R. 4625 gets as many cosponsors on the bill as possible before the month-long recess.
