July 18, 2014 01:54 PM
The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) recently added new postings to its Hospice Quality Reporting website. The new postings are as follows:
Hospice providers should not submit any HIS records for patients admitted prior to 7/1/2014 but discharged after 7/1/2014
A HIS-Admission and HIS-Discharge record are to be submitted for all patient admissions to a Medicare-certified hospice program on/after July 1, 2014. Hospices are not required to submit any HIS records for patient admissions prior to July 1, 2014, regardless of when the patient is discharged.
If a provider attempts to submit a HIS-Discharge record for patients with an admission date prior to 7/1/2014, that record will be rejected by the QIES ASAP system.
Two new fact sheets are available on the “Hospice Item Set (HIS)” Portion of this website
Providers should review both fact sheets to make sure they have the most up-to-date information on HIS reporting and FY 2016 requirements for the HQRP
Fact Sheet: FY 2016 Reporting Cycle: This fact sheet is intended to help hospices understand the requirements for FY 2016 reporting, and what they should do to comply with reporting requirements.
Fact Sheet: Getting Started with the HIS – Checklist and Quick Tips: This fact sheet is intended to provide hospices with a checklist of steps to complete for HIS data collection and HIS record completion and submission. The Fact sheet contains a list of resources providers may find helpful as they get started with HIS requirements.
