Val J. Halamandaris, President of the National Association for Home Care & Hospice (NAHC) is today honored to announce that former U.S. Senator, Mark Begich, has joined the leadership team at the National Association for Home Care & Hospice.
"Senator Begich is one of the brightest, most creative and caring people that I have ever met," said Halamandaris. "He has lived his life in accordance with very high values. He has fought for ill, elderly, and disabled persons all of his life. He has been a strong advocate of home care and hospice and we are fortunate that he has chosen to use his considerable talents to fight for patients, families, caregivers, and providers."
Senator Begich will have the titles of Vice President for Policy and Development, President and CEO of the Foundation for Hospice and Homecare, and Dean of NAHC's Homecare University.
Halamandaris said that at the Foundation, the senator would help to produce educational materials, offer certification and accreditation programs, and build positive public awareness of home care and hospice. At NAHC, the senator would offer his advice and counsel, assist with business development, help lead the Frederick Douglass Museum, and guide the Home Care & Hospice TV Network.
"I am pleased to be able to join in helping to assist the nurses, aides, therapists, and executives who have devoted their lives to serving the ill, aged, disabled and dying. I am pleased to be part of NAHC. There is no organization that is respected more in Washington, D.C," said Senator Begich.
The National Association for Home Care & Hospice (NAHC) is a non-profit organization that represents the nation’s 33,000 home care and hospice organizations. NAHC also advocates for the more than two million nurses, therapists, aides and other caregivers employed by such organizations to provide in-home services to some 12 million Americans each year who are infirm, chronically ill, disabled and dying. Along with its advocacy, NAHC provides information to help its members provide the highest quality of care and is committed to excellence in every respect. To learn more about NAHC visit www.nahc.org.
