Congress Back in Session Next Week: Contact Lawmakers to Sign Letter to CMS and Cosponsor Home Health Care Planning Improvement Act

This week marks the end of Congress’s annual August break, so now is a good time to contact your members of Congress as they return to the Capitol to encourage them to both cosign the letter to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) to prevent the proposed home health case mix cut and Home Health Value Based Purchasing (HHVBP) penalty percentage, and indicate their support for the Home Health Care Planning Improvement Act of 2015 (S. 578/H.R. 1342).
Letter to CMS on Payment Cuts and Unsustainable Value Based Purchasing Penalty Percentage
A total of 29 members of the U.S. House of Representatives have now agreed to co-sign the letter to CMS on the proposed home health case mix cut and HHVBP penalty percentage.

Home Health Care Planning Improvement Act of 2015 (S. 578/H.R. 1342)
Prior to the August recess, the tallies of support for S. 578/H.R. 1342 were 36 in the Senate and 137 in the House. In addition, Senator Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY) recently indicated her plan to cosponsor the bill once Congress returns into session.
