900. Opening General Session: Washington Update
Washington is focused on health care policy in 2017 with a new Administration and new Congress. What is the future of health care for the uninsured? Is significant Medicare and Medicare reform in play? Aside from mega-reforms, what is the landscape for health care policy in 2017? We have a new President, new command at federal health care agencies, likely bringing a new agenda and new philosophy into the health care policy debates. The Medicare and Medicaid programs are in their usual spotlight along with efforts to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act..
This opening session brings Washington to the stage with up-to-the-minute details on the legislative, regulatory, and legal landscape along with a forecast of the impact of national politics on health care.
Identify the crucial health care issues pending before Congress and the Administration.
Detail the innovations underway in Medicare and Medicaid that create opportunities for home care.
Discuss what the new “balance of power” means to home care and hospice.

901. HHS Secretary-designee Tom Price (Invited)
With health care gaining the center of attention in the new Administration, one person among many stands out as a force to recognize. Secretary-designee Tom Price, MD is well known to the home care and hospice community. As a member of Congress, he long championed efforts to improve care access and quality while minimized unnecessary paperwork. In his position as Secretary o Health and Human Services he is the leader in the new Administration with respect to Medicare, Medicaid, and health care reform.
Secretary Price will provide his insights and assessment of health care today and where it will be in the future. He will speak to his vision as to where home care and hospice best fits in the health care realm and address the challenges and opportunities that face the nation.
