Can you afford payment rates cuts as your transportation costs increase?

Home care and hospice are the parts of health care most adversely affected by the out of control prices of gasoline. We must send Congress a strong message that Medicare cuts in the face of rising gasoline costs will severely hurt access to care.

We need you to complete the Home Care and Hospice Mileage Survey immediately so we can get that message to Congress.  

NAHC is working with the Forum of State Associations and your local state association in an effort to compute the total miles driven by home health and hospice providers in the United States. Please complete the SHORT, 10 question survey so that we may accurately assess the miles your state drives to ensure access to care for your patients. We know that the number of miles driven is well over a billion, but we need an accurate count to deliver the strongest message.

The plan is to use these data in our advocacy before Congress where there remains a serious threat of payment rate cuts. Also, we will make these data available to all of you to use in your direct contacts with your specific Congressional representatives.  The astounding number of miles driven is also likely to attract great media attention thereby strengthening our message to Congress even further.

PLEASE complete this survey by Tuesday, May 27. We need to use this data during the Memorial Day recess and immediately thereafter as Congress will be acting soon on Medicare issues.
