Nurse Recognition Program Deadline Extended to April 8, 2013
Nurse of the Year Receives Free Trip to NAHC Annual Meeting & Apple iPad

NAHC has extended the deadline to submit nominations for the Nurse Recognition Program to Monday, April 8, 2013. Each of the 50 state winners will receive a free registration to the NAHC Annual Meeting & Exposition in Washington, DC, and will be featured in the May issue of CARING.

At the recent March on Washington | Private Duty Home Care Conference & Exposition Senate Breakfast on Tuesday, March 19, more than half a dozen senators praised the work and care of home care and hospice nurses, saying that “the work you do every day” is the reason why home care and hospice have such broad, bipartisan support on Capitol Hill.

Now is the time to nominate an outstanding nurse from your state for the Home Healthcare Nurses Association (HHNA) Nurse Recognition Program!

Agencies may nominate any registered nurse to represent their state for 2013. Nominations will be reviewed by the Nurse Recognition Program Selection Committee, and one nurse will be recognized from each state.

To be eligible, the nominee must be a registered nurse currently employed by a home care or hospice agency that is a member of the National Association for Home Care & Hospice (NAHC). Agencies may fill out the online nomination form on the NAHC or HHNA websites. All entries will also need a high-resolution photo of both the nurse and a patient, along with a photo release signed by each person in the photo. Nominated nurses must provide care to the patient described in the required nomination application essay and pictured in the entry photo.

NAHC will announce the selected home care and hospice nurses from all 50 states as part of its efforts to celebrate National Nurses Month in May. That month’s CARING will feature these nurses’ real-life stories and those of the patients to whom they give care and support. Nurses featured in the May issue will automatically be nominated for NAHC’s Home Care & Hospice Nurse of the Year, who will be announced at the 2013 NAHC Annual Meeting & Exposition. The winner of this award will receive an Apple iPad and a free trip to the meeting.

Help us select this special nurse and her 49 caring colleagues by sending in their photos and stories. Telling these stories is a powerful way of putting a personal face on home care and hospice — and the important impact they make on patients every day. Contributing a story of your own is also a good way to get your agency the attention it deserves.

This camp is designed for beginning to intermediate level financial staff members who have some experience in home care financial management and wish to know more about the diverse world of home care finance.
