Leadership Council of Aging Organizations Releases a Fact Sheet Showing Widespread Opposition to Medicare Cuts
Earlier this month, the Leadership Council of Aging Organizations released a fact sheet demonstrating widespread, bipartisan opposition to cutting Medicare – regardless of if the purpose of such cuts was reduce the budget deficit or to cut government spending. The Fact Sheet, which shows vast support for the government healthcare program, compiles polling data dating back to August of 2012 to show that support for Medicare remains consistent and strong.
Support for Medicare crosses partisan boundaries as well. An AARP study from November 7-8, 2012 found that 70 percent of Republicans and 80 percent of Democrats found it “very important” that benefits are not reduced for current Medicare beneficiaries.
