CMS Announces a Special Open Door Forum on Adding Star Ratings to the Home Health Compare Website
Special Open Door Forum is scheduled for Thursday, February 5, 2015 at 1:30pm - 3:00pm Eastern Time

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Service will host a second Special Open Door Forum (SODF) call to allow consumers, home health agencies (HHAs), and other interested parties to give additional input and feedback on the planned addition of star ratings to Medicare.gov’s Home Health Compare (HHC) web site.

The call follows up on our previous call one on this topic and will include:

  • a summary of the comments received on the material presented at the earlier call and on other aspects of the methodology,
  • a presentation of our revised methodology, and
  • plans for next steps.

NAHC has already submitted comments to CMS on its concerns with the new star rating system. To learn more about NAHC’s comments, please see NAHC Report, January 23, 2015.

Two such provisions - home health copays and additional payment cuts for post-acute care providers - were included in the President’s FY15 budget as well as previous proposals, and would be of great concern to the home health community.

The President will be submitting his budget to Congress next week.
