Cosponsor Update: Home Health Care Planning Improvement Act
Congress Has Returned from the Holiday Recess; Contact Your Members Today!

The Home Health Care Planning Improvement Act (S. 578/H.R. 1342), which would allow non-physician practitioners (NPPs) to certify Medicare home health services, now has a total of 173 bipartisan cosponsors in the U.S House of Representatives, as well as 43 bipartisan cosponsors in the U.S. Senate.

On Wednesday, January 6, four additional members of the U.S. House of Representatives joined as cosponsors of the legislation: Representatives Michael Honda (D-CA-17), Gwen Graham (D-FL-2), Ruben Gallego (D-AZ-7), and Rick Larsen (D-WA-2).

The National Association for Home Care & Hospice (NAHC) encourages everyone to act now to request that your members cosponsor the bill.

NAHC is focused on increasing the number of cosponsors in the Senate, in addition to gaining more cosponsors in the House. Please click here to see the list of Senators who have cosponsored the bill, and here for the list of Representatives who have cosponsored the bill. If any of your members have not yet cosponsored the legislation, please use NAHC’s Legislative Action Center to request that they to do so.

Halamandaris praised Ms. Harvey-McPherson and her organization, which she said covers “nearly the entire state of Maine” with home care and hospice staff traveling 3.1 million miles and providing 157,000 home visits and hospice visits each year, with over 1,200 patients receiving home care and hospice services on any given day.

“With population density of 10 people per square mile, we have more moose and deer on the road than we have vehicles and our staff are very skilled at avoiding them,” Ms. Harvey-McPherson said.
