NAHC/HAA Priorities Survey Deadline Extended to January 22
Member Feedback Will Guide NAHC’s Legislative and Regulatory Advocacy in Crucial Upcoming Year

The National Association for Home Care & Hospice (NAHC), along with its affiliate the Hospice Association of America (HAA), is soliciting member and advocate input regarding the most significant legislative and regulatory priorities for the home care and hospice community.

NAHC will use these priorities to guide its legislative and regulatory advocacy during the March on Washington and throughout 2016.

Three simple online questionnaires are now available to allow home care and hospice organizations, as well as other interested parties, to provide their input. NAHC has extended the deadline for completing the surveys through Friday, January 22, 2016, so please take a moment and cast your votes as soon as possible. Agencies or organizations that provide only hospice care are asked to complete only the hospice questionnaire.

CMS Releases HQRP User’s Manual, Question and Answer Document for Fourth Quarter of 2015

The “Hospice Item Set (HIS)- Based Quality Measures (QMs) for the Hospice Quality Reporting Program (HQRP) User’s Manual Version 1.00” is now available. This User’s Manual, current as of January 12, 2016, contains information about the 7 current HIS-based QMs in the HQRP including descriptions of (1) the record selection and measure calculation methodologies employed for each QM, and (2) the logical specifications for each QM.  The definitions used are -- not surprisingly -- different from the measure’s numerator and denominator as described by the National Quality Forum when the measures were originally selected by CMS.  The primary revision is that many of the measures now have a defined timeframe (i.e. no more than 7 days prior to the admission date and no later than 5 days after the admission date, etc.).  The date when CMS will begin sharing calculated measures with hospices and publicly reporting them has yet to be determined.  However, CMS has indicated that this could occur in FY2017.
