Hospice PEPPER Training Session Recording Now Available

In late April TMF Health Quality Institute (the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services’ PEPPER contractor) held a training session on the 2016 Hospice Pepper.  A recording of the event, slides, and a Q & A review document are now posted online for those who missed the session on April 28.  Following is a link to the web page where these materials are available:

Hospice providers nationwide are to be congratulated — as of May 31 nearly 43 percent of hospices (1720 out of a total of 4013) have downloaded their 2016 Hospice PEPPER.  Below we are providing a table with state-specific rates for accessing the most recently-released Hospice PEPPER.  The PEPPER provides hospice-specific data on a number of target areas that CMS is monitoring, as well rates in the target areas for the hospice provider’s state and Medicare Administrative Contractor (MAC) jurisdiction.  For more information about the target areas included in the 2016 Hospice PEPPER, please see previous coverage in NAHC Report here.

GAO Announces Newly Appointed MedPAC Members

On June 2, 2016, U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO) Comptroller General Gene L. Dodaro announced the appointment of five new members to the Medicare Payment Advisory Commission (MedPAC).

“MedPAC provides valuable advice to policymakers on key issues relating to Medicare,” Dodaro said. ”GAO received applications from a number of highly qualified candidates interested in serving on the Commission, and I am very pleased to announce this latest round of appointments because the men and women named today will bring an important range of diverse experiences and perspectives to MedPAC.”

Executive Director, VNAs of Vermont

The VNAs of Vermont is a membership organization of ten not-for-profit Visiting Nurse Associations in Vermont. The purpose of this organization is to increase knowledge of and to develop, improve, and expand the quality of community based home health and hospice care in Vermont.
