CMS Conducts Pre-Claim Review Demonstration Special Open Door Forum

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) held a Special Open Door Forum call on June 14 for the home health Pre-Claim Review Demonstration project. In addition to what has already been addressed in the Notice that was issued in the FR, CMS provided a list of items that will be required for a pre-claim request and addressed participants’ questions.

CMS began the call by stating that the Pre-Claim Review Demonstration was an attempt to reduce fraud in the home health industry and reduce improper payments related to insufficient documentation that has been increasing over the last few years.

The demonstration is planned for three years for home health services in the states of Illinois, Florida, Texas, Michigan, and Massachusetts where there have been high incidences of fraud and improper payments for these services.

Home Health Summer Camp 2016
Preconference at the Financial Management Conference

At Home Health Summer Camp 2016, home health personnel will benefit from a detailed understanding of fundamental financial tools and operational strategies for developing and maintaining positive financial outcomes. This updated preconference is designed for beginning- to intermediate-level financial staff members who have some experience in home care financial management and wish to expand their knowledge in the diverse world of home care finance. Vice President — Home Care

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced senior home care leader to join a growing organization.

Mercyhealth was formed in January 2015 through the merger of Mercy Health System and Rockford Health System. Today, Mercyhealth is a vertically integrated, not-for-profit multi-regional health system comprising five hospitals, home care & DME, a wholly-owned insurance company, more than 750 employed physicians and over 85 primary and specialty care medical centers and clinics across more than 60 communities in 15 northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin counties.

The Vice President of Home Care oversees the planning and development of policies and procedures and overall operations of all departments and areas of home care including Home Health, Hospice, and DME for both Wisconsin and Illinois.

This position reports to the Sr. VP/COO Illinois Mercyhealth.

Requires a BSN and a master's degree from an accredited college. Must also have at least ten years of proven administrative experience, including five or more years in an executive position, preferably with a public or community home health organization of like size and volume of activities.
