Majority of U.S. Senators Cosponsor Home Health Care Planning Improvement Act
52 Bipartisan Senators Now Cosponsor Legislation to Allow NPs to Sign Home Health Plans of Care

The National Association for Home Care & Hospice (NAHC) is pleased to announce that a majority of U.S. Senators have now cosponsored the Home Health Care Planning Improvement Act (S. 578) to allow non-physician practitioners to sign home health plans of care. The legislation now has 52 cosponsors in the U.S. Senate. Companion legislation in the U.S. House of Representatives currently has 200 cosponsors.

The most recent Senators to cosponsor the legislation were Senator Patty Murray (D-WA), Ranking Member of the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor & Pensions, and Senator Steve Daines (R-MT).

With 52 cosponsors, the legislation has more than enough support to receive the 51 votes necessary to secure final passage on the Senate floor. However, NAHC is committed to continuing to build support for the legislation and has set the goal of 60 cosponsors in the Senate. This would ensure enough votes to overcome a filibuster.
