CMS to Host Third Special Open Door Forum on Pre-Claim Review Demonstration for Home Health Service
Wednesday, July 20; 2:00pm – 3:00pm Eastern Time

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has announced that it will host a third Special Open Door Forum (ODF) call regarding the Pre-Claim Review Demonstration for Home Health Services on Wednesday, July 20, 2:00pm – 3:00pm Eastern Time. CMS previously held two Special Open Door Forums on the Pre-Claim Review Demonstration on June 14 and June 28 (see previous NAHC Report coverage here).

In an announcement, CMS stated that two of its Medicare Administrative Contractors, Palmetto GBA and CGS, will be available for questions. Palmetto GBA will present on their activities to ready for the demonstration launch in Illinois, and provide an overview of their Web portal submission tool. As previously reported in NAHC Report, in June CMS posted in the Federal Register a Notice announcing a 3-year Medicare pre-claim review demonstration for home health services. CMS will be implementing a 3-year Medicare Pre-claim Review Demonstration for Home Health Services in the states of Illinois, Florida, and Texas by the end of 2016. CMS plans to include Michigan and Massachusetts in the demonstration in 2017.

Rep. Marsha Blackburn Cosponsors Home Health Care Planning Improvement Act

The National Association for Home Care & Hospice (NAHC) is pleased to announce that U.S. Representative Marsha Blackburn (R-TN-7) has cosponsored the Home Health Care Planning Improvement Act. The House version (H.R. 1342) now has 201 cosponsors. The Senate version (S. 578) has 52 cosponsors, a majority of the Senate.

In just the past few weeks, the legislation has gained two Senate cosponsors—Patty Murray (D-WA) and Steve Daines (R-MT)—as well as seven bipartisan House members in addition to Rep. Blackburn—Rep. Robert A. Brady (D-PA-1), Rep. Dave Brat (R-VA-7), Rep. Mo Brooks (R-AL-5), Rep. Tammy Duckworth (D-IL-8), Rep. Robert Hurt (R-VA-5), Kathy Castor (D-FL-14), and Michael K. Simpson (R-ID-2).
