FY2022 Hospice Final Rule: What’s in Store for Hospice Payment and Quality Measures

Wednesday, August 11, 2021 ; 12:30-1:30pm Eastern

The FY2022 final Hospice payment and quality reporting program update final rule was released on July 29.  While it does not stray far from what was proposed, there are changes.  Join NAHC staff as they provide the details of why the payment rate update dropped to 2.0%, the changes to the calculation of the labor share amounts for each of the four levels of care, and all the details about the new composite quality measure – the Hospice Care Index.  An analysis of the impact of the changes and what hospices should do now to prepare for a significantly different year ahead will be shared.

Topics of discussion include:

  • Revisions to labor shares and hospice payment rates
  • Election statement addendum requirements and permanent condition of participation changes
  • Hospice Care Index measure details
  • CAHPS Hospice Survey star rating
  • HQRP public reporting changes

Learning objectives:

  • Outline hospice payment changes and rebased labor shares
  • Describe clarifications to the election statement addendum requirements
  • Review details and provide analysis of the Hospice Care Index measure
  • Describe changes to the HQRP, including the star rating for hospice CAHPS, and removal of the seven HIS measures from Compare
  • Provide an update on the HVLDL measure and public reporting
