The FINAL FY2020 Hospice Payment Rule and Implications for Hospice Practice

Thursday, August 8, 2019 from 1:00 to 2:00 Eastern

The FY2020 hospice payment rule issued in late April proposed several policy changes that, if finalized, have the potential to dramatically impact hospice finances and operations. They included:

  • Rebasing” of General Inpatient Care (GIP), Inpatient Respite (IRC) and Continuous Home Care (CHC) rates and a 2.71 percent reduction in Routine Home Care (RHC) rates
  • Expansions to the hospice election statement and creation of an election statement addendum outlining items and services that are “unrelated” to the terminal illness and related conditions
  • Elimination of the one-year “lag” in data used for the wage index
  • Updates to the Hospice Quality Reporting Program and future plans for Hospice Compare

As part of this webinar, the National Association for Home Care & Hospice’s (NAHC) experts will provide in-depth information and key “takeaways” on elements of the FINAL FY2020 hospice payment rule, as well as a greater understanding of the implications that these changes may have for hospice patients, providers, and the Medicare hospice benefit generally.

Program Faculty:

  • Theresa M. Forster, Vice President for Hospice Policy & Programs, NAHC
  • Katie Wehri, Director, Home Care & Hospice Regulatory Affairs, NAHC
