COVID-19 Vaccine Resolution from the NAHC Board of Directors

Washington, D.C. — The Board of Directors of the National Association for Home Care & Hospice (NAHC) have unanimously adopted a resolution to encourage all home care and hospice staff to receive a COVID-19 vaccination at the earliest possible time, consistent with the vaccine guidance. Furthermore, the resolution urges all home care and hospice operators to provide staff with the necessary information and support for their staff to receive access to the vaccine and make informed decisions about immunizations.

The resolution from the NAHC Board also supports making the COVID-19 vaccine available to home care and hospice patients and their caregivers, some of the most vulnerable patients in the population to this strain of the coronavirus.

Crucially, the Board urges all home care and hospice operators and staff to continue to employ the effective infection control measures that have been so successful at slowing the spread of the virus while allowing patients to continue to receive care in the safest possible place, their own homes.

Finally, the entire Board pledges to take the COVID-19 vaccine as soon as it is available to them within the applicable designated group prioritization.

Care in the home has been critical to success against COVID-19 and it will continue to be so.
